Bas Kluijtmans, PhD

After obtaining his MSc in Physical Organic Chemistry Bas conducted his PhD research titled “dynamics of colloids in porous media” at the van’t Hoff Laboratory for Physical and Colloid chemistry at Utrecht University under the supervision of Prof. dr. Albert Philipse.

His first job as Research Engineer at Fujifilm Manufacturing B.V. brought him in contact with industrial R&D. He developed novel ingredients for photographic products and other application areas. After becoming a team leader at Fujifilm his team focussed on the production and medical applications of a novel and degradable biomaterial produced by a yeast fermentation process. This recently resulted in a succesfull first in man clinical trial!  

In this role he deeply developed technical, project, and people management skills. He has set up product roadmaps, patent portfolio’s, introduced regulatory standards (ISO13485) and explored subsidy opportunities.

In his career he met all the pitfalls and opportunities in the creation of new products from R&D seeds.  His vast experience in project and department management makes him an excellent candidate to boost your team or project.
